Suriname is not a copy-paste Caribbean destination. It is South American, Caribbean, Amazonian, Dutch-speaking, multilingual, and deeply multicultural at the same time.

For a first visit, Paramaribo is the natural starting point. The city gives guests access to food, history, river life, markets, architecture, and day trips without requiring them to understand the whole country on day one.
